About the role
- Responsible for implementing and managing health and safety programs in chemical manufacturing facilities
- Leading monthly site safety meetings and facilitating safety committee meetings
- Managing biomonitoring testing programs and ensuring appropriate protection measures
- Identifying and managing PPE equipment and programs
- Creating and delivering new employee and contractor safety training and orientation
- Managing job safety analyses and participating in occupational and process safety incident reviews
- Managing the site’s Risk Awareness Program and cultivating a strong safety culture
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring leading safety indicators
- Supporting and participating in Safe Work Permit programs and retention of records
- Maintaining relationships with governmental agencies to ensure compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or science field (Environmental Sciences preferred)
- At least 5 years’ hands-on experience with safety in a manufacturing environment
- Experience providing employee training and making presentations
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices
- Team-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well independently
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
