Mechanical Engineer

• Handle the complete circuit design process including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout for the Umbrel Home product line
• Test and validate all electrical components and systems to ensure quality, reliability and performance, including thermal testing
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with our software engineering team to ensure that the electrical systems integrate seamlessly with umbrelOS
• Lead the initial prototyping stages to troubleshoot, iterate, and refine designs
• Work closely with our suppliers and manufacturers to prioritize tasks and facilitate the transition from prototyping to mass production
• Document the design process and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle

Electrical Design Engineer

• Support our users across all online channels (email, Discord, website chat, forums, social medias, etc) for non-technical issues (such as Umbrel Home order related queries)
• Work with our logistics and fulfillment team to resolve order/shipping issues
• Help users with various non-technical tasks, such as order modifications, returns, replacements, and repairs
• Create how-tos, guides, wikis, knowledge base, etc for recurring questions

• Review and test __app submissions__ for the Umbrel App Store
• Identify bugs and issues in apps
• Automate testing processes for umbrelOS apps
• Work closely with the engineering team to track down umbrelOS-related bugs

• Develop and maintain the core components of umbrelOS, focusing on performance, stability, and security across different hardware architectures.
• Ensure optimal integration and performance of umbrelOS on the Umbrel Home.
• Design and implement system-level enhancements.
• Conduct rigorous testing and debugging at the kernel level to handle system updates and compatibility issues.

• Ships polished, accessible UI in React + TypeScript (Tailwind, Shadcn, Radix).
• Work primarily in TypeScript, and dabble in Shell as necessary
• Build APIs in Node.js

• Are left to autonomously figure out solutions to their challenges
