About the role
- Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory
- Inspect and maintain equipment on the lot including checking fluid levels
- Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers and install hitches and trailer wiring
- Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental
- Fill propane (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
- Drive a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
- Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services
- Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University
- Other duties as assigned; be the face of U-Haul company’s exceptional service and ensure customers get the help they need
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to move and position equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted
- Ability to work around moving parts, machines, fumes or irritant chemicals and to use protective clothing or gear when required
- May require forklift and propane certifications (offered through U-Haul upon employment)
- Compliance with U-Haul hiring policy regarding nicotine product use in specified states
