About the role
- Serve as the face of U-Haul, assisting customers inside and outside the center with U-Haul products and services
- Inspect and maintain equipment on the lot including checking fluid levels and cleaning
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals, dispatch, and inventory
- Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers; install hitches and trailer wiring
- Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental
- Fill propane and drive a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
- Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform physical tasks including long periods of standing, moving around indoors and outdoors, and moving equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted
- Ability to work around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals and use protective clothing or gear as required
- Customer service skills and ability to assist and educate customers regarding products and services
- Ability to use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory
- Willingness to obtain certifications offered upon employment (propane filling certification, forklift certification)
- Ability to move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers and install hitches and trailer wiring
