About the role
- Assisting with the implementation as well as the enhancement of legal and compliance policies including: data retention, privacy, security, legal billing, and management.
- Identifying legal operations needs and solutions
- Identifying scalable legal operations tech tools and implementing them.
- Actively managing legal bills and outside counsel spending, eventually leveraging tech tools & data to do so.
- Assisting with research and investigations including gathering information and preparing draft reports at the direction of counsel.
- Representing the Legal dept in cross-functional meetings.
- Managing Turing Legal’s institutional knowledge and historical advice
- SLA identification, reporting, and driving team accountability
- Preparing department reports for leadership to increase accountability and identify opportunities to increase efficiency.
- Managing Legal programming (e.g. legal & compliance training- company wide)
- Support in administering Turing’s stock plan
- Other paralegal and litigation support work as necessary
Requirements
- 5+ years paralegal experience ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house legal departments at a technology start up, including 2+ years experience in Legal Operations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting litigation, disputes, and compliance processes.
- Strong knowledge of document retention policies, litigation holds, and discovery procedures
- Skilled in building and managing data preservation policies, including tracking and deploying litigation holds.
- Experience collaborating with e-discovery vendors to extract and manage data in disputes.
- Proficient in managing shared drives, team document repositories, and responding to legal inquiries.
- Familiarity with legal billing systems and managing outside counsel engagement and invoices.
- Strong ability to identify and close operational gaps in legal and compliance workflows.
- Knowledge of corporate governance and compliance best practices.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and external stakeholders.
