About the role
- Attend and participate in an intensive training program to gain knowledge through classroom and practical hands-on application
- Transition into the Sales organization and be based in one of the branch office locations
- Sell company products and services to assigned customers in territory
- Create sales, defend sales, and penetrate sales, for existing and potential customers
- Generate leads and call on assigned customer accounts
- Deliver samples, product line cards and sales literature to customers and prospective customers
- Establish and maintain effective business rapport with customer’s purchasing and management staff
- Pursue new business leads by using all the resources available including reps, trade shows, networking
- Facilitate follow-thru on every level of the sales cycle
- Attend quarterly business reviews (QBR) with suppliers
- Ensure timeliness of price quotes are meeting customer deadlines
- Increase customer account coverage by working closely with Account Representatives
- Work with customer’s buyers, purchasing and engineering staff on projects and designs
- Strategize with company management on large customer quotes
- Negotiate special pricing from suppliers by exposing business opportunities during the quote process
- Answer and resolve all customer questions, problems, and complaints
- Entertain customers to aid in negotiations and/or show appreciation of business
- Maintain market awareness on competitor activities, industry trends and new concepts
- Report daily itinerary to branch management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 0 to 2 years of experience in sales, customer service, or a related field (internship experience accepted)
- Possesses thorough knowledge and understanding of sales, purchasing, product, vendors, warehousing, branch operations and systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
- Must be organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to present complex topics effectively to senior management, public groups and boards of directors
- Strong analytical skills (able to calculate discounts, interests, commissions, proportions and percentages)
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, articles and presentations proficiently and professionally
- Reads, analyzes and interprets business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations
- Able to work with minimum supervision and make responsible, independent decisions
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License, safe driving record and be insurable by the Companies’ liability carrier
- Requires some travel, amount varies depending on territory assigned
- Ability to type 40 words per minute
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) at a basic level required
- Must be able to carry up to 10 lbs. without assistance
