Lead, negotiate, and execute complex contract negotiation for clean energy transactions, including Power Purchase Agreements for utility and commercial scale wind and solar projects, on-site solar projects, and battery storage.
Educate clients on key wholesale market and commercial terms, including operational and strategic implications.
Develop negotiation strategies and structure commercial terms aligned with client objectives.
Lead client engagements and delivery of advisory services.
Create compelling PowerPoint deliverables that clearly convey actionable insights for client organizations.
Present deliverables to clients, including C-suite and operational teams, effectively communicating results and recommendation tailored to the organizational need.
Review research and analysis performed by junior staff and ensure accuracy of work products.
When appropriate, understand commercial and financial structures relevant to client’s decision making.
Act as subject matter expert in clean energy contracts. Cross-train in other areas of Sustainability and Clean Energy Advisory’s offerings.
Collaborate with Sustainability and Clean Energy colleagues, as well as with other teams, for efficient delivery of client projects, including mentoring junior staff.
Collaborate with the sales team to assist in the identification of new clients, cross-sell opportunities, and new business opportunities.
Coordinate with sales operations to manage client proposals and develop scopes of work.
Educate prospects about Trio’s capabilities including advisory on renewables, conventional power and gas procurement, sustainability, energy optimization and electrification
Author whitepapers and other collateral to contribute to Trio’s thought leadership.
Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes.
Requirements
5+ years’ experience in the clean energy field with a clear trajectory of increasing ownership over tasks and deliverables; experience at a utility, large energy purchaser, or renewable developer preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, Environmental Science, or related field; master’s degree a plus.
Demonstrated working knowledge and practical application or project contribution in contract negotiation in the energy field. Solid understanding of renewable energy projects and wholesale electricity markets.
Experience in two or more of the following areas also a plus: sustainability program development, GHG inventory accounting (GHG Protocol), decarbonization strategy, sustainability goal setting (SBTi, Net Zero, and others), stakeholder engagement, climate adaptation and risk, on-site and community solar, utility scale renewable energy, battery storage, renewable project due diligence, environmental reporting, global and regional climate-related disclosure frameworks, sustainability and energy policy research and analysis, wholesale electricity markets, sales.
