About the role

  • Financial planning and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies at all levels.
  • Analyze payments for contracts with vendors and providers.
  • Apply accounting expertise to prepare financial reports and ensure accurate payments by interpreting contract terms.
  • Review expenditures to ensure that they are complete and timely.
  • Assist in training new staff in systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Work with the Financial Operations Team on assignments, tasks, and guiding the workflow.
  • Review processes and procedures to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting to the State for specific programs for tracking expenditures.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as needed.
  • Review, investigate and correct errors in payables entries, documents, and reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience working with a health plan or other managed care entity, behavioral health services provider, or hospital entity in accounting field or financial analysis; OR Associate’s degree and four (4) years of experience working with a health plan or other managed care entity, behavioral health services provider, or hospital entity in accounting field or financial analysis; OR Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience working with a health plan or other managed care entity, behavioral health services provider, or hospital entity in accounting field or financial analysis; OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must reside within North Carolina.
  • Must be able to travel within catchment as required.
  • Preferred: Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business including mathematics or statistics.
  • Preferred: Four (4) years of experience working in accounts payable with a health plan or other managed care entity or behavioral health services provider or hospital entity.
