About the role
- Financial planning and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies at all levels.
- Analyze payments for contracts with vendors and providers.
- Apply accounting expertise to prepare financial reports and ensure accurate payments by interpreting contract terms.
- Review expenditures to ensure that they are complete and timely.
- Assist in training new staff in systems, processes, and procedures.
- Work with the Financial Operations Team on assignments, tasks, and guiding the workflow.
- Review processes and procedures to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure appropriate reporting to the State for specific programs for tracking expenditures.
- Prepare monthly journal entries as needed.
- Review, investigate and correct errors in payables entries, documents, and reports.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience working with a health plan or other managed care entity, behavioral health services provider, or hospital entity in accounting field or financial analysis; OR Associate’s degree and four (4) years of experience working with a health plan or other managed care entity, behavioral health services provider, or hospital entity in accounting field or financial analysis; OR Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience working with a health plan or other managed care entity, behavioral health services provider, or hospital entity in accounting field or financial analysis; OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must reside within North Carolina.
- Must be able to travel within catchment as required.
- Preferred: Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business including mathematics or statistics.
- Preferred: Four (4) years of experience working in accounts payable with a health plan or other managed care entity or behavioral health services provider or hospital entity.
