Drive and monitor operational efficiency for expediting filing processes, introduction of new products and adherence to laws and regulations.
Analyze approval and rejection data of previous filings and monitor market practices to inform dynamic regulatory strategies, identify sensitive regulatory issues and communicate to senior leadership.
Build and manage a team responsible for the preparation, submission, negotiation of terms, and approval for rule, rate, and form filings, as well as competitive intelligence.
Provide expertise in resolving any issues that arise.
Lead the development of the vision, strategies and initiatives for the Personal Insurance competitive intelligence within Product.
May facilitate and direct the management and validation of non-financial market regulatory activities, including market conduct exams, interrogatories, surveys, and data calls.
May draft responses to inquiries, criticisms, and/or alleged violations, as well as, design, monitor and negotiate department findings, corrective actions, and potential penalties.
Identify and engage resources to support all corporate initiatives and support staff’s technical development needs to deepen their expertise in the elements of regulatory & filing.
Support the review and analysis of state insurance statutes and regulations to determine changes to product design, development and filing requirements, and adjust current practices accordingly.
May partner with legal when appropriate.
Provide education to relevant personnel on the best practices for maintaining and storing documentation to support compliance efforts.
Serve as the lead contact with key internal business partners, state and federal regulatory agencies and external vendors.
Direct the optimization of regulatory tools and databases through consultation with vendors to incorporate the latest regulatory changes, industry standards and internal policy adjustments.
Coordinate and guide the strategic planning and execution of regulatory and filing projects ensuring to align with business unit objectives and drive cross functional collaboration.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree.
Six or more years of experience with comprehensive knowledge of regulatory/compliance requirements, processes, and procedures, knowledge of insurance products within line of business, filing, and or related fields.
Three or more years of experience in leadership and management of others.
Coaching and talent development skills including ability to mentor and motivate others and provide feedback.
Certification in one or more regulatory compliance or similarly recognized group such as ARC, AIRC, PIR, SPIR, CPCU, MCM, etc.
Expert critical thinking and influencing skills to manage a collaborative environment and drive business needs both internally and externally.
Efficient prioritization skills to ensure resources are allocated accordingly and critical projects are completed on time.
Expert relationship management skills to build and foster productive partnerships with internal and external business partners.
Expert verbal and written communication skills to present complex regulatory issues, skillfully negotiate and foster collaboration across all levels of the organization.
Expert analytical and problem-solving ability to identify root causes and develop innovative solutions to complex and sensitive filing challenges.
Proven ability to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
Experience with AI-based data analysis tools for automation of research, reporting and processes.
