About the role
- Provide consecutive interpretation services between English and Korean across healthcare, legal, financial, and customer-service calls
- Ensure complete accuracy, clarity, neutrality, and preservation of tone, intent, and emotion in interpretation
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times and follow interpretation protocols
- Manage continuous live calls professionally, including session control and respectfully intervening when clarification is needed
- Apply short-term memory retention, active listening, and note-taking techniques to manage longer exchanges
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence and composure during high-pressure or emotionally charged interactions
- Remain strictly within the interpreter’s role without offering personal opinions or advice
- Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and feedback sessions; complete four weeks of paid training
- Utilize basic computer tools (MS Office, internal platforms) to manage calls and log activity
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); college education preferred
- Fluency in English and Korean, B2+ proficiency or higher
- Ability to pass a language and interpreting skills assessment
- Minimum of 6 months of call center, customer service, or interpreting experience
- Strong verbal communication, bilingual accuracy, and ethical decision making
- Ability to interpret complex conversations including idiomatic expressions and specialized terminology (medical, legal, financial)
- Strong active listening, short-term memory retention, and note-taking techniques
- Emotional control, professionalism, empathy, and adaptability
- Comfortable with assertive communication and session control
- Basic computer skills including typing and MS Office navigation
- Quiet, distraction-free workspace conducive to active listening and sustained concentration
- Stable home internet connection (cable, DSL, or fiber; cellular data and hotspots not permitted)
- Desktop or laptop (Windows or Mac) with at least 16GB RAM and functioning webcam; computer no older than 5 years
- Broadband minimum 30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload; Windows 10 or newer / macOS Big Sur (OS 11) or newer
- Identity requirement: must provide valid government-issued photo identification during recruiting and training
- Preferred: Certification in medical, legal, or community interpreting; experience with remote work tools and communication platforms
