About the role

  • Ownership of non-tech department staff costs and headcount tracking vs budget.
  • Liaising with business leaders and working closely with the People team to identify variances. Guiding Senior Finance managers on risks/opportunities.
  • Preparation and analysis of month end payroll journals and working papers.
  • Producing and presenting analysis on variances to forecasts for areas of ownership at month end.
  • First Finance point of contact for People 'HODs' and Payroll Manager regarding non-headcount analysis and payroll process. Responding to ad hoc queries.
  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations each month for relevant staff cost nominals.
  • Assisting Staff Costs Lead with timesheet and capex analysis.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the directors' remuneration report at Year End.
  • Supporting with additional audit queries, including payroll sampling and testing of fixed asset register.
  • Champion internal process improvements and support Finance and HR system efficiencies to drive optimisation in ways of working.
  • Supervision of Graduate Accountant, guiding completion of month end processes, such as journal postings, balance sheet reconciliation completion (including Contractor WIP) and preparation of non-headcount forecasting, analysis, and commentary.
  • Mentoring Graduate Accountant in improvement of accounting knowledge and development of analytical skills, encouraging them to grow in confidence and ability, and progress through the graduate scheme.

Requirements

  • Qualified CA/ACCA/CIMA, desirable 2+ PQ years’ experience and strong financial accounting experience.
  • Experience operating with an enterprise wide, integrated finance system across multiple business units.
  • Decisive and confident in operating autonomously on a regular basis, positive, self-reliant, open-minded and enthusiastic attitude. Confident in a fast paced, change environment.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and enthuse peers, facilitating their work both as part of the team and under their own initiative with minimum supervision.
