About the role
- Design, implement, and oversee credit risk strategies to support Toast Capital’s lending portfolio
- Develop and refine credit risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures for new and existing lending products
- Lead portfolio risk monitoring, segmentation, and stress testing to ensure risk-adjusted returns
- Partner with Product and Finance to design lending offerings and embed risk controls
- Define underwriting standards, scorecard strategies, and eligibility criteria
- Oversee monitoring of credit performance, delinquency trends, and loss forecasting
- Establish early warning systems and recommend policy adjustments
- Foster partnerships with Product, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Accounting, and Strategic Finance
- Collaborate with Data Science to enhance predictive models and with Legal/Compliance to meet regulatory standards
- Present portfolio performance and risk assessments to executive leadership
- Build and mentor a high-performing credit risk team
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in consumer or small business lending
- At least 5 years of experience in managing a team
- Strong understanding of credit risk analytics, underwriting, and portfolio management
- Experience supporting the launch and scaling of new lending products
- Proficiency with credit modeling, loss forecasting, and stress testing frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally and influence executive stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills with experience building and leading high-performing teams
