Coach on design practices and standards, provide guidance on addressing design challenges, and assist in discipline coordination efforts

Review work in accordance with applicable standards and QA/QC processes and oversee deliverable progress relative to submittal schedules
Identify, advocate for, develop, and expand highway design capabilities for the collective team
Contribute to client engagement and development plans; cultivate and maintain stakeholder relationships
Track prospective opportunities, lead proposals, and deliver qualifications presentations
Partner with TKDA representatives to implement market development strategies and enhance service awareness regionally and nationally
Provide technical guidance and insight to project teams and project managers throughout project lifecycles
Assume project manager responsibilities for strategic and high-profile projects as necessary
Assist with proposal development for project pursuits and participate in qualifications presentations and project interviews
Promote a culture of safety and quality across projects
Requirements
Professional Engineer (PE) with ten or more years of professional experience
Progressive mix of comprehensive design and project management for large-scale multi-discipline roadway and highway infrastructure projects
Prior experience engaging in business development activities, including proposal preparations, development of scope and fee estimates, and leading capabilities or qualifications presentations
Demonstrated track record of securing project opportunities with established, emerging, and prospective clients/public agencies
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop a team of transportation design professionals (registered engineers, designers, technicians)
Superior focus on quality; ability to adhere to design requirements, implement quality review measures, and ensure technical accuracy
Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety excellence, employee training, project/site risk assessment and mitigation, and adherence to safety policies and regulations
Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed for on-site consultations, client meetings, business development, conferences, and office visits
Thorough knowledge of MnDOT and AASHTO design standards and deliverable requirements
Ability to exercise authority addressing design challenges related to area of specialization
Ability to assume project manager responsibilities for strategic and high-profile projects
Assist with proposal development by providing input on team capabilities and capacities
Advantageous: active membership in professional societies and organizations
Advantageous: previous experience contributing to client engagement/development plans, annual business plans, and strategic market development plans
Advantageous: extensive portfolio of transportation projects showcasing innovation through design strategies/deliverable solutions
