Job Level

About the role

  • Conduct geological site investigations to assess subsurface conditions of project locations (e.g. soil composition, rock structure, groundwater levels)
  • Analyze current and historical geological data (such as soil properties, rock stability,) to evaluate how site conditions will impact engineering projects and designs
  • Prepare detailed geological maps, cross-sections, and technical reports to document investigation findings and inform project planning and design decisions
  • Identify potential geological hazards (e.g. landslides, earthquakes, sinkholes, or flooding risks) at project sites and contribute to risk assessments that guide engineering decisions and hazard mitigation plans
  • Work as a Subject Matter Expert in Risk Assessment workshops
  • Design and recommend slope improvement measures (such as slope stabilization techniques, rock anchor design) to address unstable or weak rock conditions
  • Advise and collaborate with engineers, architects, and planners to ensure that geological findings are integrated into project designs and construction plans
  • Review and interpret geological data and make design recommendations that adhere to current design standards, making sure that project plans meet all relevant geological, geotechnical guidelines, and constructability considerations
  • Monitor and interpret data from ongoing site investigations and instrumentation (such as readings from soil tests, slope monitors, or groundwater gauges) during construction
  • If new geological issues arise during a project, address these emerging concerns in real time to maintain safety
  • Develop drilling program plans and lead the teams through execution
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in geology and geotechnical engineering
  • Continuously broaden your knowledge and skills to apply current best practices and scientific developments in their work
  • Serve as a mentor for Junior and Mid-level Geologists
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
