About the role
- Provide scope development of all Integrated Facility Planning (IFP) projects including site walks, written scope development, code research, production of plans and sketches
- Assist in the maintenance & updating of Disney Standards and details
- Provide initial review for compliance of proposed space planning efforts/tenant improvement support and workspace options
- Work with Quality Control/Quality Engineering (QE/QC) Team to perform regulated structural inspection (including steel corrosion, wood decay, concrete spalling) and provide disposition for findings
- Assess light poles, bridges, retaining walls, underpasses, gates, speaker poles, projector poles, overhead fixtures, and other site elements
- Assist Emergency Response Team to prepare Engineering Earthquake Response Program, drill plans, mobilize post-earthquake inspection, and participate in Earthquake Early Warning program
- Respond timely to structural assessment requests resort wide, including vehicular collisions and reported indications
- Participate in development of corporate wide standards including structural engineering, overhead object and rigging systems, and rockwork
- Develop dynamic facility design projects from concept through construction documentation in accordance with Disney quality standards
- Develop project concepts and scopes of work; lead design and development of construction drawings and specifications as Engineer of Record
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and statutes; respond to city plan check inquiries and RFIs/submittals
- Provide punch walk lists to General Contractor and Facilities Asset Management partners and prepare/collect project documentation for closeout
- Work with team members to provide structural resources, both technical and aesthetic, for design, planning and code compliance
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering
- 7+ years professional experience working in Structural Engineering
- Civil PE License in the State of California
- SE License in the State of California (preferred)
- MS in Structural Engineering (preferred)
- Professional design experience in a wide range of project types and construction types
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Construction Administration experience including site observation, review of RFIs and Submittals
- Direct experience in the preparation of structural contract drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of the California Building Code, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, ACI 318, NDS, AISC, and TMS
- Experience developing custom details to support unique facility design conditions
- Demonstrate leadership, team building skills, and mentoring engineers
- Strong written, verbal, and graphical communication skills
- Ability to respond efficiently to wide-ranging situations and personalities
