About the role
- This role is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions that support business applications and analytics.
- The Data Engineer will model relational and non‑relational data structures, build and tune database code, develop ETL pipelines, and support data services across modern technology stacks.
- The position blends database engineering, data integration, analytics, and general software engineering to enable scalable, secure, and high‑quality data environments.
- Design and communicate conceptual, logical, and physical data models for transactional and analytical systems.
- Develop and optimize SQL, PL/SQL, and NoSQL queries and database code.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines using tools such as SSIS or DataStage.
- Support data services using REST/SOAP and Java-based middleware.
- Monitor, tune, and optimize large‑scale SQL Server and Oracle environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi‑vendor, offshore delivery model is a requirement of the role.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data engineering, database development, or related field
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server or Oracle, including performance tuning and query optimization
- Experience developing ETL processes using SSIS, DataStage, or similar tools
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts for transactional and analytical systems
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-vendor, offshore delivery model
- Preferred Experience with NoSQL platforms (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
- Familiarity with Hadoop/Spark or other big-data technologies
- Exposure to semantic modeling and analytics tools such as SSAS
- Knowledge of Java middleware (e.g., JBoss) and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., AngularJS, Backbone.js, Ember.js)
- Understanding of data quality, data security, and encryption best practices.
- Education B.Sc. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
