About the role
- Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers on people policies, processes, and best practice.
- Support the management of employee relations cases, including absence, performance, conduct, and grievance matters, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
- Ensure people matters are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with policy and employment legislation.
- Support managers to build confidence and capability in people management through guidance, tools, and coaching conversations.
- Encourage early intervention and effective handling of people matters.
- Promote consistent people management practices across departments.
- Use people data and insight (e.g. engagement, absence, turnover, performance trends) to identify themes and inform people actions across departments.
- Support the development of people plans by providing analysis and insight to Head of People Partnering and Director of People.
- Produce clear, practical insight to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Support people activity during periods of organisational change, including restructures, role changes, and team transitions.
- Assist with workforce planning, organisation design activity, and change communications.
- Provide practical support to ensure effective implementation of people initiatives.
- Support any cultural change initiatives and help drive and embed new behaviours and processes.
- Work closely with Centres of Expertise to support the delivery of initiatives across talent, performance, reward, development, diversity and inclusion, and culture.
- Support the delivery of diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives, helping to embed inclusive practices across departments.
- Contribute to culture and engagement initiatives that strengthen organisational values and ways of working.
- Partner with Talent colleagues to support recruitment activity, including workforce planning, role definition, and hiring processes.
Requirements
- Early career experience in HR or a People Partnering environment.
- Sound understanding of core HR policies, employee relations processes, and employment legislation.
- Ability to coach, support, and appropriately challenge managers to build effective people management capability.
- Understanding of core talent processes, including recruitment, performance management, talent reviews, and succession planning.
- Ability to analyse data and translate insight into clear, practical actions.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an environment with ongoing change.
- Ability to balance policy, risk, and pragmatism in day-to-day decision-making
