35% - Provide on-and off-site direction and coordination with department personnel, government agencies, and other church departments for safety, health, environment, and emergency planning issues to prevent accidents and injuries. Conducts worksite assessments to determine risks, potential hazards and controls, evaluates risks and hazard control measures, and investigates incidents. Implements and evaluates safety and health programs. Off-site visits are required.
25% - Receive, review, and respond to everyday and emergency needs for management, employees, and missionaries, Church members, patrons, and visitors.
20% - Generate safety awareness through training and dissemination of informational materials, newsletters, bulletin boards, or other information sources to department employees.
8% - Maintain databases and files to furnish required reports, graphs, and trends and to develop strategy.
7% - Serve as the department liaison to, and participate in technical consultation with Risk Management, other departments, government, and regulatory agencies.
5% - Serve as the safety representative as part of the emergency action plan for Church operations and/or areas.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
Eight years progressive experience in the development and management of safety, health, and environmental programs.
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential.
Knowledge of Church departmental organizations and Church policies and procedures is helpful.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to organize; detail and multi-task oriented.
Project management experience.
Ability to operate a personal computer.
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
