About the role
- Provide engineering and design requirements for new and existing transmission lines throughout the AES Indiana system
- Prepare specifications, evaluate proposals, and design physical line routing layouts and support systems
- Work with LIDAR data scans and assist in procuring right-of-way through private property
- Assist in planning, design, construction management, and field engineering of transmission line projects
- Support projects of various complexities and assist with project documentation procedures
- Respond to emergencies and assist Storm Teams and Operating Center to re-energize transmission lines and restore service
- Assist in maintaining transmission design standards and information systems
- Provide reports to Project Management on labor hours, cash disbursements and storeroom charges for cost estimating projects
- Work with suppliers to procure transmission line structures and equipment and provide purchasing vendor recommendations
- Assist Property Accounting with project close out and classification of new transmission equipment
Requirements
- Bachelors of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering Required
- Fluently communicate electrical technical knowledge with other Engineers
- Provide related information to non-technical coworkers
- Understand relevant terms and exchange information with Project Management, Operating Center, Fixed Assets, T&D Planning, and other Operations areas
- Ability to effectively present facts based on knowledge or research and champion assignments to conclusion
- Work under supervision of experienced engineers and learn utility industry nomenclature and guidelines
- Respond to emergencies including long duration customer outages and storm service restoration
- Assist in procuring R-O-W thru private property
- Work with suppliers, contractors, and Line Mtce group for procurement and field construction support
