About the role
- Performing Life Cycle and Materiel Management functions including but not limited to equipment obsolescence, material compatibility issues, alternate part investigations, maintenance management, and disposal management;
- Supporting and managing activities associated with the design and configuration control of the vessels including conducting functional and physical configuration audits, as well as deviations and waivers documentation;
- Providing technical advice to enable auxiliary and mechanical equipment and/or systems to be correctly operated or maintained;
- Monitoring systems and equipment performance through various reports such as but not limited to Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCRs), Pre-installation failures (PIFs) and technical investigations (TIs) conducted by the customer;
- Ensuring proper level of spares are maintained throughout the life of the systems and equipment; support the cataloguing process;
- Conducting technical investigations into problems associated with combat systems, equipment and/or software issues, including failure analysis and solution recommendation;
- Developing and reviewing technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance instructions, test and trials agendas, and engineering change documentation and drawings;
- Analyzing requirements associated with baseline changes to the ships configuration, equipment and software;
- Liaise with OEMs, Service Providers and ship staff to support the investigation and resolution of defects;
- Preparing documented work scopes, suitable for the solicitation of quotations from external resources such as OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities or specialist service providers;
- Preparing and managing Work Packages and cost estimates for customer approval.
Requirements
- 3-year technical program diploma (for Technologists) or 2-year technical program diploma (for Technicians) in a marine technical field offered by a recognized technical institute; or Certified a technologist or technician by a recognized provincial, state, or federal (national) licensing body in a relevant field or certified body; or Certified as one of the following technical trades of the Canadian Armed Forces: QL6B Naval Electronics Technician RQPO1 WEng Tech
- Possess a minimum 8 years of demonstrated professional work experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry within the last 15 years;
- Extensive knowledge of combat systems and equipment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Familiar with safety standards;
- Strong communication skills (oral and written);
- Language: English (Essential).
