About the role
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including licensing agreements, distribution agreements, vendor contracts, and artist agreements
- Ensure that contractual terms and conditions protect the organization's interests and comply with legal requirements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address legal risks and negotiate favorable terms
- Provide counsel on intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademark, and licensing issues
- Conduct due diligence on intellectual property rights associated with acquisitions, collaborations, and partnerships
- Advise on the protection and enforcement of the organization's intellectual property assets
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices to ensure compliance
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks
- Provide guidance on data protection, privacy, and security matters
- Provide timely and accurate legal advice to internal stakeholders on various business initiatives and operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal considerations are incorporated into business strategies
- Assess potential legal and business risks, propose mitigation strategies, and offer creative solutions to complex issues
- Assist in managing disputes and potential legal claims
- Collaborate with external legal counsel in litigation matters, including strategy development and document review
- Provide support in preparing legal documents and gathering evidence for legal proceedings
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction
- 7+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department
- Strong knowledge of contract law, intellectual property law, and commercial transactions
- Experience in the entertainment industry or related fields is preferred
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality in work
