About the role

  • Lead planning and delivery of the in-person portion of a 4-day hybrid conference (~500 attendees) in Abuja, Nigeria in April 2026
  • Develop and manage project plan, provide weekly status updates, raise risks
  • Coordinate with VP of Partner Success & Delivery on budget and risks
  • Collaborate with Business Development on sponsorship needs and fulfillment
  • Recruit and manage local event management resources (on-location support, ushers, volunteers)
  • Source and negotiate local vendor contracts in Abuja (AV, catering/F&B, printers, furniture, security)
  • Manage vendor contract compliance and vendor-related budgets
  • Coordinate purchase/lease and delivery of on-site supplies (signage, staging, booths)
  • Coordinate sponsor-specific on-site needs (logo signage, equipment, catering)
  • Space planning, layout, sets & staging, signage and logistics
  • Identify on-site staffing needs and coordinate resourcing
  • Manage event setup, attendee experience, crowd control, run of show
  • Manage staff and volunteers on event days and ensure legal/health/safety compliance

Requirements

  • 5+ years directly managing in-person events
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale in-person events
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Experience with Abuja based events management preferred
  • Ability to travel locally to Abuja (less than 25% time)
  • Availability for meetings in EST/US timezone
  • Vetted list of local vendors (AV, printing, travel, catering, hotels) preferred
