About the role
- Lead planning and delivery of the in-person portion of a 4-day hybrid conference (~500 attendees) in Abuja, Nigeria in April 2026
- Develop and manage project plan, provide weekly status updates, raise risks
- Coordinate with VP of Partner Success & Delivery on budget and risks
- Collaborate with Business Development on sponsorship needs and fulfillment
- Recruit and manage local event management resources (on-location support, ushers, volunteers)
- Source and negotiate local vendor contracts in Abuja (AV, catering/F&B, printers, furniture, security)
- Manage vendor contract compliance and vendor-related budgets
- Coordinate purchase/lease and delivery of on-site supplies (signage, staging, booths)
- Coordinate sponsor-specific on-site needs (logo signage, equipment, catering)
- Space planning, layout, sets & staging, signage and logistics
- Identify on-site staffing needs and coordinate resourcing
- Manage event setup, attendee experience, crowd control, run of show
- Manage staff and volunteers on event days and ensure legal/health/safety compliance
Requirements
- 5+ years directly managing in-person events
- Proven experience in managing large-scale in-person events
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Experience with Abuja based events management preferred
- Ability to travel locally to Abuja (less than 25% time)
- Availability for meetings in EST/US timezone
- Vetted list of local vendors (AV, printing, travel, catering, hotels) preferred
