About the role
- Ensure that a development team (pod) is creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments
- Align with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog
- Manage delivery blockers, continuously assessing customer feedback
- Maximize value, assess how the product or delivery process can be improved, contribute to a positive work environment and ensure work embodies Agile principles
- Accountable for specialized product development support and integrates knowledge of enterprise sub-function’s strategy
- Interpret business challenges and recommend course of action and best practices
- Lead and integrate cross-function understanding within specialty and/or projects
- Solve complex problems and lead efforts to develop new solutions
- Communicate difficult concepts and influence senior stakeholders
- Work autonomously as the lead and guide others within area of expertise
- Partner with senior management to support delivery of product vision and align on roadmap, MMF/MVP and release cadence
- Review performance analytics and champion strategies to enhance customer experience
- Participate in scrum/Kanban events and engage business process partners for Day 2 processes
- Provide user story design, development and completion oversight and accept/reject user stories based on Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria
- Manage delivery initiatives and oversee multiple development team backlogs
- Responsible for defect management and prioritization
- Adhere to enterprise frameworks and ensure strategic alignment
- Manage business stakeholders and monitor regulatory environment
- Act as single point of escalation for development team and compile performance metrics
- Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners and contribute to team development and mentorship
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree and / or product certificate
- 7+ years relevant experience
- 3-5 years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset
- Experience with Agile/Scrum processes, roles and practices
- Ability to participate in scrum or Kanban events
- Ability to manage product backlog and user stories
- Ability to review performance analytics and recommend strategies
- Ability to manage delivery initiatives and oversee multiple development team backlogs depending on complexity
- Proactive issue raising and defect management
- Ability to compile performance metrics and define OKRs in partnership with stakeholders
