About the role
- Draft and edit communication materials tailored to government audiences, including press releases, pitches, media alerts, blog posts, bylines, award submissions, and briefing materials.
- Design and review content for public sector–focused announcements, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and message alignment with broader corporate and policy narratives.
- Build brand and reputation awareness in the public sector through campaigns that drive engagement across PR, social, and other marketing channels.
- Manage and maintain public sector award submissions, speaker opportunities, and thought leadership programs to elevate Tanium’s presence in government forums.
- Develop proactive public sector–focused media pitches and maintain relationships with trade media, government‑focused reporters, and industry influencers.
- Partner with external PR agencies to support day‑to‑day execution, rapid response opportunities, and public sector‑specific campaigns.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across public sector sales, federal affairs, product marketing, legal, and corporate communications to ensure tight alignment of messages and narratives.
- Track, measure, and report on PR and social performance metrics related to public sector campaigns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Public Sector Communication and the broader communication team.
Requirements
- BA or BS in Marketing, PR, Communication, English or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in communications, public relations, external affairs, or a related field
- Prior experience in a communications role within a technology company, public sector organization, or government agency (local, state, federal, or military) is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting public sector audiences, government programs, or cybersecurity-related topics is a plus.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, compelling messages.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative thinker who proactively identifies new communication opportunities and approaches.
- Genuine interest in cybersecurity, public sector missions, and protecting critical infrastructure.
