About the role

  • Field Engineer – Part-Time (Contract) based in Slough, Swindon, Newbury & Reading
  • 3 month fixed-term contract (with possible extension), working 5 days per week
  • Provide technical support and outstanding customer service to clients across Berkshire and Wiltshire
  • Hands-on role requiring technical expertise and problem-solving to maintain IT infrastructure
  • Part of a team of 11 supporting 4 key clients
  • Respond to escalated technical support tickets from the 1st Line Service Desk
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and troubleshooting to identify root causes
  • Provide technical guidance to end-users remotely and on-site where required
  • Document incidents and resolutions in the ticketing system
  • Monitor system performance, identify risks, and implement preventative measures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with feedback and recommendations

Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a service desk role, with a solid track record of supporting users
  • Confidence working directly with clients and building positive, professional relationships
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft technologies
  • Clear, friendly, and effective communication skills
