About the role
- Represent T-Mobile and handle leave-and-accommodations advice and litigation (primarily in arbitration)
- Advise business units and Human Resources on other employment legal matters, primarily within the Customer Care line of business
- Prepare agency position statements and demand-letter responses
- Leverage your subject-matter expertise to advise on multi-jurisdiction leave and accommodation compliance, balancing legal risk with efficient plan administration
- Engage and work with outside counsel to manage employment litigation, with a focus on leave and accommodations issues in employment arbitrations
- Identify and implement creative litigation strategies and thoughtfully manage litigation costs
- Provide practical, day-to-day counseling to HR and other internal clients to identify and manage employment legal risks outside the leave-and-accommodations arena
- Prepare responses to agency charges and demand letters
- Develop and review written HR policies, guidelines, templates, and forms
- Develop and deliver legal training to HR and other internal clients
- Provide employment law advice regarding internal investigations
- Advise and help clients understand employment law related compliance issues
- Counsel and advise clients on a wide variety of complex and developing employment-related legal and business issues
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as an employment attorney, with relevant in-house and/or top law firm experience
- Minimum 4 years, strongly prefer 6+ years, of focused work on leave and accommodation issues across the country
- Ability to work independently and effectively despite ambiguity and rapid change
- Excellent writing skills, with a focus on providing practical advice
- Amazing oral communication skills, with a focus on clearly and simply conveying complex employment law concepts, risks, and options to HR and other internal clients
- Strong judgement that allows you to properly weigh what’s best for our customers and our business, what’s best for our employees, and potential legal risks
- Strong project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other legal and business professionals in a complex organization with a focus on delivering results efficiently
- A keen business sense with negotiation and drafting skills
- Ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, and balance multiple, and sometimes competing, priorities
- Must be licensed, in good standing, to practice law in the US
- At least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
