About the role
- Execute and enhance distribution strategies for the Japan market aligned with our strategic direction
- Drive new business generation and portfolio growth through agencies and brokers across relevant lines of business
- Develop and manage senior-level relationships with key agencies and brokers to build long-term strategic partnerships
- Bridge communication between the Japanese market and underwriting teams to ensure effective business flows
- Lead and develop the Distribution team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
- Oversee activation, development and performance management of assigned agencies and brokers
- Monitor and analyze market trends, broker dynamics and competitive developments to inform strategic decisions
- Influence across functions to improve operational effectiveness, service quality and market competitiveness
- Negotiate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic business objectives
- Drive innovation in distribution through digital platforms, new approaches and differentiated value propositions
- Manage distribution pipeline, forecasting and performance tracking with transparency to senior management
- Collaborate with underwriting, operations and other functions to ensure alignment and seamless execution
- Provide guidance for insurance solicitation materials and key marketing initiatives
- Ensure accurate oversight of sales activities and reporting within Customer 360 and other relevant systems
- Support strategic initiatives led by the Head Customer and Distribution
- Maintain compliance with all applicable internal policies and external laws and regulations
- Represent our company in senior-level meetings with clients, agencies, brokers and other stakeholders
Requirements
- 10+ years' experience in commercial insurance, with significant exposure to agency and broker distribution
- Proven experience managing senior broker relationships and leading teams or functional initiatives
- Deep understanding of the Japanese corporate insurance market, distribution landscape and regulatory environment
- Strong execution capability with the ability to translate strategy into measurable results
- Native-level Japanese proficiency and business-level English reading and writing skills
- Excellent communication and influencing skills at senior internal and external levels
- Commercially minded with strong discipline in pipeline, performance and stakeholder management
- Self-motivated, resilient and able to operate effectively in a matrix organization
- Spoken English proficiency
- Experience with digital distribution channels and innovative insurance solutions
