About the role

  • Ensure adherence to Street Child’s internal control and financial procedures and accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Maintain inventory of office equipment and fixed assets and ensure compliance with finance and procurement policies and government tax requirements.
  • Record transactions daily in AQILLA, perform control checks, reconciliations, and timely financial reporting to the country team.
  • Verify invoices and supporting documents for payments, ensure policy compliance, record bank transactions, and ensure payments reach beneficiaries.
  • Manage advances to staff and partners, perform cash counts, and ensure partner books comply with donor requirements.
  • Provide accounting and financial assistance to country team, review partner expenses and payment vouchers, support project cash flow and donor disbursements.
  • Maintain financial practices and controls, ensure timely vendor payments, monitor coding of expenditures and review sub-recipient financial reports.
  • Support prevention and investigation of fraud, assist during internal and external audits, implement audit recommendations and track corrective actions.
  • Lead capacity building for partners on financial management and internal controls; coordinate sub-recipient assessments and monitoring visits.
  • Maintain employee register, prepare monthly payroll including taxes and statutory obligations, and perform other HR-related functions.

Requirements

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking and Finance or other related field of study
  • Minimum 3 years of experience directly supporting/managing Finance, HR and administration within an INGO preferably in Cameroon.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting and financial reporting as well as the taxation laws of Cameroon
  • Experience in using relevant accounting system, solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Cameroon working environment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of relevant donor funded project, rules and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills in English and French
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize and multi-task while working as part of a team.
  • Possess strong accuracy, attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to travel.
