About the role

  • Responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects to ensure profitability and compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Track project costs, revenues, and subcontractor invoices from receipt through verification to payment.
  • Monitor and track the financial performance of assigned projects, including budgets, actuals, forecasts, and profitability.
  • Prepare and analyze project cost reports and financial statements to support project managers and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project setup, billing, and revenue recognition in accordance with company policies and contract terms.
  • Reconcile project-related transactions and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting.
  • Maintain organized and auditable project financial records and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to development of best practices in project accounting.
  • Provide additional support to Accounting and Finance operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in a government contracting or professional services environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and project cost tracking.
  • Experience with subcontractor invoice processing and payment workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Deltek Costpoint software.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with government contracts and compliance (e.g., FAR, DFARS). (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems. (Preferred)
