About the role
- Responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects to ensure profitability and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Track project costs, revenues, and subcontractor invoices from receipt through verification to payment.
- Monitor and track the financial performance of assigned projects, including budgets, actuals, forecasts, and profitability.
- Prepare and analyze project cost reports and financial statements to support project managers and senior leadership.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project setup, billing, and revenue recognition in accordance with company policies and contract terms.
- Reconcile project-related transactions and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting.
- Maintain organized and auditable project financial records and support internal and external audits.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to development of best practices in project accounting.
- Provide additional support to Accounting and Finance operations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in a government contracting or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and project cost tracking.
- Experience with subcontractor invoice processing and payment workflows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Deltek Costpoint software.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with government contracts and compliance (e.g., FAR, DFARS). (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. (Preferred)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems. (Preferred)
