About the role

  • Prepare monthly financial statements/reporting packages, including journal entries, reconciling and rolling forward balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper coding of income and expense items, bank reconciliations, and variance explanations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing financial data and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with internal controls and company processes.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual loan compliance reporting for lenders.
  • Assist in providing external tax preparers with information necessary to prepare entity-level tax returns.
  • Manage cash flow for the assigned property portfolio.
  • Work closely with property managers, asset managers, and other stakeholders to achieve property objectives and financial goals.
  • Communicate effectively and provide financial insights to support decision-making.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, and 3-5 years' experience in accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA), preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is essential.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and financial reporting.
  • Understanding of lease accounting, property valuation methods, and industry-specific financial metrics.
  • Experience with accounting software and property management systems is often required.
  • Proficient in using software such as Entrata, Yardi, MRI Software, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with colleagues, tenants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Must be proactive in addressing discrepancies, reconciling accounts, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
