About the role
- Responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more.
- It is anticipated that these positions will work 40 hours per week for approximately six months.
- Employees may be required to report to work outside of their work schedule/ area and must be reachable by phone.
- Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required.
Requirements
- One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor INCLUDING EITHER one season of operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
- A Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
- An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
- Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment.
- An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
- In accordance with federal regulation, any person applying for employment as an operator of a commercial motor vehicle must provide detailed employment information for the past 10 years.
