💰 $21 - $32 per hour

About the role

  • Responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more
  • In the winter months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting
  • Overtime may be required
  • Employees may be required to report to work outside of their area/work schedule and must be reachable by phone
  • Hazards are always present when working on the roads as traffic passes, emergencies such as flood, ice, snow hazardous materials
  • Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required prior to operation of vehicles or operating equipment

Requirements

  • No education or experience required
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for the successful completion of original probation
  • An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within six (6) months or be enrolled
