About the role

  • Support highway maintenance and operations in Mendon.
  • Repair guardrails, patch pavement, ditching, clearing brush, and picking up litter.
  • Play a critical role in plowing and salting during winter weather events.
  • Overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor
  • Operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
  • A Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
  • An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment.
  • An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
  • Non-original probationary employees must obtain a required CDL license prior to the completion of six (6) months of service in the position.
