About the role

  • Oversee the coordination, coaching, management and leadership for systems and content program areas related to development and implementation of high quality, coordinated, standards-aligned curricula for tier 1 instruction and interventions
  • Lead major projects within and across teams and divisions
  • Ensure coordination, management and productivity of one or more programs and related project activities and resources
  • Design and create systems to address specific educational and program goals
  • Formulate educational organizational and operational plans, grants, contracts or procedures for achieving program goals
  • Promote partnerships with and provide support to groups/organizations/stakeholders
  • Serve on committees, boards or councils
  • Provide technical assistance and training to schools, community groups and other organizations
  • Provide leadership, oversight and support to schools/LEAs on needs assessments, planning, implementation and documenting program effectiveness and compliance with appropriate educational guidelines
  • Serve as a statewide subject matter expert in curriculum and instructional support, especially in Literacy and Mathematics
  • Lead and manage team assignments/tasks related to program objectives
  • Conduct research and develop knowledge in area of expertise
  • Submit data collection, reports, etc. for compliance related items
  • Maintain ongoing communication with field partners
  • Present/report to Boards/Legislature, as needed
  • Work with management to ensure the coordination of the group activities with the goals and objectives of the AOE
  • Represent team/division at scheduled meetings
  • Lead teams involved in AOE workgroup projects/assignments related to state and federal priorities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, public administration, or related field AND five (5) years or more of experience in education or human services, INCLUDING one (1) year or more with planning, policy, program administration or a program evaluation role AND two (2) years or more of supervisory experience.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, or related field AND seven (7) years or more of experience in education or human services, INCLUDING one (1) year or more with planning, policy, program administration or a program evaluation role AND two (2) years or more of supervisory experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of one or more of the educational or technical specialties of assigned work group
  • Considerable knowledge of the field of education in general and deep knowledge of the selection and implementation of high-quality curricular and instructional practices/programs
  • Considerable knowledge and skill in planning, developing, and coordinating programs and initiatives
  • Considerable knowledge of implementation and improvement science
  • Ability to prepare reports of considerable complexity
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to design and deliver high-quality presentations and reports
  • Ability to provide team leadership, support, and oversight for division core work programs and processes, and/or other cross division programs
  • Ability to supervise individuals within the team and ensure work is coordinated
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Expertise in relevant laws, rules, regulations related to curriculum & instruction expectations in Vermont schools
