Lead the design and engineering of multiple water and wastewater projects, acting as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or components.
Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer electrical systems and products for projects in accordance with codes and standards.
Conduct field investigations and assess as-built conditions.
Liaise with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and internal teams; lead project coordination meetings.
Prepare design calculations, construction packages (drawings and specifications), and revise documentation through design and construction phases.
Utilize technologies and develop three dimensional models of electrical systems.
Estimate construction costs, participate in value analysis, and develop/manage project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
Lead preparation and coordination of project specifications and participate in constructability reviews.
Conduct quality assurance/quality control and review deliverables from peers and subordinates.
Oversee construction phase services: respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and review construction for general conformance with design.
Provide guidance, training and mentorship for junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
Assist in business development activities and preparing proposals for smaller projects.
Requirements
Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of industry standards as well as electrical and building codes.
Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications, particularly in the water/wastewater industry.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards, particularly in the water/wastewater industry.
Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
Very strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong presentation, interpersonal and interview skills.
Well-versed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoDesk products (i.e. AutoCAD) and/or Bentley products (i.e. Microstation). Familiarity with Revit is an asset.
Experience with specialized power system software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is an asset.
