NV5 owner representatives act as a dedicated advocate, alleviating project complexities and mitigating risks effectively.
Acting as field electrical engineer: owner’s representative providing field inspections, construction quality assurance, oversight of electrical testing and commissioning activities at multiple sites during various phases of construction.
Tasks include completion of checklists, adherence to established processes, identification of code compliance issues and common deficiencies, escalation of energization blockers, and documenting as punch list items.
Electrical systems include commercial facility power upgrades; participate in internal weekly program syncs and coordinate with Project Managers to ensure field documentation and checklists are completed.
Travel 50-75% within the United States to attend site walks and Owners Rep onsite services at commercial customer sites.
Inspect, oversee NETA vendor testing, and onsite verification of installed low, medium (480V) and potentially high voltage electrical systems.
Assess power transformer testing results - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
Oversee NETA testing of both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays; verify cable testing results (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
Identify and create punch lists of deficiencies observed onsite; ensure compliance with Client processes.
Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting oversight; low, medium and high voltage switchgear and circuit breaker experience.
Relay calibration and power metering knowledge; attend customer sites in a timely manner.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
5+ years of field electrical maintenance experience within EPC of commercial projects or similar.
Ability to identify onsite deficiencies and energization blockers.
Experience working with NETA qualified testing vendors, ability to assess pass/fail of test results.
Proficient with Medium Voltage infrastructure including functional testing of relays.
Ability to work in small teams and coordinate onsite activities during outages (for preventative maintenance or power upgrades).
Experience developing and conveying findings to public or private entities.
Proficiency with Microsoft programs including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Adobe / Bluebeam and Smartsheet.
