About the role

  • Managing complex tasks on multiple projects
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the project life
  • Keeps the Principal in Charge informed of project progress and deadlines
  • Assists in the negotiation and development of project agreements
  • Develops and manages project budget, schedule
  • Mentors assistant Project Managers and motivates project teams
  • Ensures timely completion of Project Management Framework tasks
  • Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings
  • Manages and tracks change orders
  • Conducts senior peer review of deliverables
  • Works with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs
  • Travel to small communities for building condition assessments

Requirements

  • 5 years of related work experience
  • professional degree in Architecture
  • Registered or able to become registered within one year, as an Architect with a Canadian Architects Association
  • Excellent understanding of accessibility codes
  • excellent understanding of life-safety codes
  • knowledge of northern building construction systems
  • requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp
  • Ability to prepare design and building condition assessment reports
  • Team player with the client, project team and contractor
  • Excellent negotiator and communicator
  • Ability to travel to Yellowknife and/or Whitehorse once per quarter
  • Comfortable going into local office 3 days/week minimum
