About the role

  • Assist in the development of project commissioning documentation including Checksheets, commissioning plans and commissioning specifications
  • Assist in reviewing commissioned systems documentation including contractor submittals, QC documentation, Vendor startup reports and O&M manuals
  • Support and participate in a wide variety of building performance engineering projects, including office and on-site project duties.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of commissioning and performance testing processes and methodologies
  • Review design drawings and specifications and reporting to Clients to verify the proposed design satisfies the Owner’s project requirements.
  • Participate in active field reviews, testing, issue documentation capture, and issues resolution of mechanical and building automation related technical services within facilities.
  • Assist in developing detailed and concise reports and support the documentation of the commissioning process.
  • Witnessing and documenting automation controls verifications and sensor calibrations, as well as air and water balancing procedures and balancing results.
  • Lead the development of functional performance test scripts based upon project specific sequences of operation for mechanical systems.
  • Lead the effort with respect to witnessing and documenting functional performance testing of mechanical, electrical and life safety systems.
  • Support with commissioning related proposal pursuit efforts.
  • Participate in project commissioning meetings while developing experience to chair commissioning meetings.
  • Attend professional courses and trainings, conferences, and industry talks.
  • Support the electrical commissioning activities and desire to develop knowledge and skills to conduct electrical systems commissioning and life safety systems testing (CAN/ULC-S1001).

Requirements

  • Able to work independently while managing multiple tasks and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and plan work weeks and months.
  • Mechanical Building Systems (HVAC) Design or construction experience
  • Strong knowledge of Building Automation Systems
  • Strong and effective technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Be self-sufficient and self-motivated with strong negotiation skills.
  • Open-minded attitude towards building a business, seeking new opportunities for professional development.
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
  • Basic experience in implementing project schedules (utilizing Microsoft Project, Prima Vera, etc.).
  • Willingness to take courses in all building-related matters, and certifications such as CCP, LEED accreditations, sustainability accreditations.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • 3+ years of building design or construction experience specific to building mechanical systems
  • Either have or be eligible and intend to pursue at least one Commissioning related certification; e.g. BCA, ASHRAE, NEBB, AABC or equivalents.
