About the role
- Design and build scalable backend and full-stack services using Ruby on Rails and React
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship high-impact features that improve the member and caregiver experience
- Expand and maintain existing web applications and infrastructure
- Debug and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
- Provide technical leadership in architectural discussions, code reviews, and system planning
- Uphold high engineering standards, including test coverage, documentation, and performance
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues
- Collaborate flexibly across time zones, as needed, to support distributed teams and stakeholders
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering growth and best practices
- Proactively improve team velocity, tooling, and engineering process
- Drive integration of observability, performance monitoring, and resiliency features
- Represent the team in org-wide technical and architectural discussions
Requirements
- 6–8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend development
- Expertise in at least one of the following languages: Ruby on Rails, Java, C#, Python, or equivalent
- Proven experience leading delivery of complex technical projects or 0–1 product development
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and mentorship abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with observability and experimentation tools, such as Datadog, LaunchDarkly, Sentry, Mixpanel, Iterable
- Experience architecting complex systems or microservices
- Fluency in SQL and modern data tooling (e.g., DBT, Snowflake)
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and unblock other engineers
- Bonus: Experience with AI tooling and developing integrations.
