Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company specialising in content and data within sports betting, horse racing and fantasy sports, operating brands including Racing Post, Pickswise, myracing and Free Super Tips.
Reports to: Head of SEO.
Responsible for helping to grow the organic search traffic across the group by devising and overseeing the execution of the Technical SEO and AI Search strategies.
Work across multiple brands and territories in a highly competitive niche.
Develop and implement technical SEO strategies across group-owned brands aligned with business priorities and commercial KPIs.
Manage and coordinate technical SEO activity including site audits, crawl budgets and site migrations; provide technical requirements for core web vitals and structured data.
Work closely with product, UX and tech teams to implement technical SEO requirements, driving measurable improvements in site visibility, organic traffic and conversions.
Champion AI Search strategy and LLM readiness by optimising products for discoverability, managing accessibility of AI crawlers, and tracking performance.
Integrate AI tools and agents to deliver innovative solutions and autonomy for BAU SEO activities to improve efficiency and scalability within the team.
Manage SEO technology platforms and account manager relationships with providers.
Measure and analyse the group’s technical performance, communicating strategic recommendations to relevant departments.
Lead, grow and develop direct reports, supporting training needs and identifying succession plans.
Requirements
You have substantial experience in technical SEO roles, and possess in-depth knowledge of SEO best practices for news publishers and large websites.
Hands-on experience with log file analysis, crawling and indexation diagnostics, core web vitals and rendering solutions.
Project management skills are essential, and familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban frameworks is advantageous.
Passionate about ‘GEO’ and competent in using AI tools to automate tasks, synthesise research and generate solutions
Proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Excel is a must.
Familiar with SEO tools (e.g., SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Lumar or similar).
Staying up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and webmaster updates is crucial.
Knowledge of Python and JS is a valuable asset.
Knowledge of sports betting and iGaming affiliate marketing in Europe and the US is desirable.
