About the role

  • Provide advanced corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support across multiple solar facilities.
  • Support escalated technical issues, non-conformance items, and complex system-level failures while traveling extensively throughout the assigned region.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, testing, and repair of solar equipment and systems with minimal or no supervision.
  • Serve as a regional technical resource for corrective maintenance activities, NCS items, and escalated troubleshooting issues across multiple sites.
  • Perform detailed electrical testing, troubleshooting, and repair of low, medium, and high voltage systems, including inverters, combiners, trackers, MV equipment, and substation-adjacent components.
  • Utilize system monitoring applications, SCADA, and plant data to diagnose system-level and equipment-level issues.
  • Support root cause analysis efforts and provide technical recommendations to prevent repeat failures.
  • Coordinate with site personnel, Field Service Leads, OCC, Project Management Teams, and other internal stakeholders during corrective maintenance activities.
  • Accurately account for time, materials, and corrective actions expended in the performance of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain a high standard of documentation, including detailed work orders, corrective action reports, NCS closeout documentation, and technical summaries.
  • Operate service equipment safely and maintain required records related to equipment and systems.
  • Understand, follow, and communicate safety regulations, site-specific procedures, and work controls.
  • Support training and technical knowledge sharing with site technicians as needed during corrective activities.
  • Assess safety concerns and exercise Stop Work authority when conditions warrant.
  • Assess and suggest improved processes, collaborate on new technologies, and coordinate with management regarding implementation of improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent,
  • Vocational or Technical School training a plus
  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Mechanics preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in utility-scale solar and/or a related electrical power industry
  • Strong corrective maintenance and troubleshooting background required
  • Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practices
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of utility-scale solar systems, protection devices, control systems, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters, transformers, and balance-of-plant equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of DC electrical theory and advanced troubleshooting methods for safe and effective work within photovoltaic (PV) arrays
  • Ability to troubleshoot network, communications, and telemetry-related issues
  • Familiarity with substation operations, including switching plans, one-line diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentation
  • Strong computer operation skills, including CMMS, system monitoring applications, and standard office software
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate, and thorough technical documentation and reports
  • Valid OSHA 10 certification required (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Valid NFPA 70E Safety Training certification required
  • Inverter Field Application Specialist (FAS) certifications or other relevant electrical certifications are not required, but are considered a strong plus
  • Substation training and/or certifications highly recommended
  • Remain current in all safety and technical trainings
  • Effective verbal and written English language communication skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, especially in a multi-site support role
  • Ability to work independently at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis (may include weekends or after-hours situations)
  • Ability to travel extensively (approximately 75 percent), including overnight and extended assignments
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to operate company vehicle.
