About the role

  • Lead negotiation and drafting of a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
  • Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) and data licensing agreements
  • Technology services agreements;
  • Technology and IP licensing agreements
  • Strategic partnerships and reseller agreements
  • Support fast-paced enterprise sales cycles, balancing velocity with thoughtful risk management.
  • Advise on cross-border transactions and support international commercial expansion.
  • Own and streamline procurement contracts, vendor agreements, and NDAs.
  • Partner closely with business teams to build scalable commercial contracting processes, templates, and playbooks.
  • Provide practical guidance on IP, AI, and data-related issues, including ownership, usage rights, and restrictions in AI systems.
  • Stay current on developments in the AI ecosystem, including customer expectations around AI risk, transparency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Privacy, Security, Product, and Engineering teams on contract-related and risk issues.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school; active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (California preferred).
  • 6–10+ years of relevant experience, including meaningful hands-on commercial contracting experience.
  • Prior experience helping to build or scale a commercial legal function, ideally at a high-growth technology, tech services, or AI-focused company.
  • Strong familiarity with tech services, DaaS, licensing, and partnership deals.
  • Comfort negotiating complex, high-value agreements with sophisticated counterparties.
  • Solid understanding of IP concepts and how they would apply in Snorkel’s commercial agreements
