About the role

  • Support the New Business Conflicts Clearance team by conducting thorough conflicts checks.
  • Maintain accurate records in the conflicts database.
  • Ensure the seamless operation of the conflicts resolution process.
  • Review and analyze conflicts reports to identify any potential conflicts of interest issues.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team and Conflicts Attorneys to resolve potential ethical conflicts.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys and staff to gather necessary information for conflicts checks.
  • Validate requirements for each conflict check with the requesting lawyer to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct corporate research using both internal and external resources.
  • Coordinate with the Client Accounting Department to ensure database information integrity.
  • Provide coverage for department functions as needed, ensuring continuous operation of conflicts resolution processes.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Familiarity with conflicts database software, preferably iManage, and a general understanding of the conflicts resolution process in a legal or professional services context.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in communicating with Firm attorneys and staff.
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Experience working within a conflicts department at an Am Law 50 firm.
