Backend Engineer

• Design and implement the backend systems that make agents usable in production: execution engines, workflow orchestration, tool invocation frameworks, document processing systems, database interfaces, authentication and authorization, and lifecycle management.
• Work closely with the AI team to consume new cognitive primitives and turn them into concrete, shippable functionality: agent behaviors, configuration models, execution semantics, and observability surfaces that customers can rely on.
• Ensure agent-powered systems behave predictably under load and over time. This includes handling retries, partial failures, long-running workflows, cost controls, and performance tradeoffs. You’ll help define what “production-ready” means for agents.
• Influence API design, data models, and internal contracts to ensure the platform remains cohesive as it grows. You’ll help prevent accidental complexity and keep the system understandable and evolvable.
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews, help set engineering standards, and mentor other engineers. You’ll act as a force multiplier across the product engineering organization.

• Own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles, e.g., Principal Engineers, AI/ML specialists, Technical Leads, Full Stack Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Product Managers
• Partner with engineering and product leadership to understand technical requirements, define ideal candidate profiles, and create compelling role narratives
• Build and execute innovative sourcing strategies to identify passive candidates with expertise in AI agents, LLMs, Python, distributed systems, enterprise platforms, and modern web technologies
• Conduct thorough technical screens to evaluate candidates' core competencies, problem-solving abilities, and cultural alignment before advancing them to hiring teams
• Manage candidate experience throughout the hiring process, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple interview stages with distributed teams
• Develop and refine our technical interview process to ensure we're effectively evaluating for the skills that matter while creating a positive candidate experience
• Create and attend in-person events for passive candidates to get to know more about Sema4.ai
• Build talent pipelines for future hiring needs and maintain relationships with high-potential candidates

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Own end-to-end positioning and messaging for Sema4.ai’s finance-focused AI solutions, including offerings for CFOs, controllers, FP&A, and broader finance teams.
• Define clear value propositions, use cases, and solution narratives that map finance workflows (e.g., close, AP/AR, FP&A, controllership) to measurable business outcomes.
• Partner closely with Product Management and Sales to ensure tight alignment between product capabilities, market needs, and GTM motions.
• Lead go-to-market strategy for new finance products and features, including audience definition, messaging frameworks, launch plans, and success metrics.
• Build and manage launch playbooks that align stakeholders across marketing, sales, product, and customer success.
• Support pricing and packaging discussions for finance solutions by bringing market, customer, and competitive insights into decision-making.
• Create executive-ready sales enablement assets such as pitch decks, one-pagers, solution briefs, FAQs, and competitive battlecards tailored to finance buyers.
• Develop talk tracks and objection-handling guides that help sales teams confidently engage CFOs and senior finance leaders on AI and automation.
• Partner with Revenue and Enablement teams to deliver trainings, refine messaging based on field feedback, and continuously improve deal execution quality.
• Drive ongoing research into finance buyer needs, pain points, and decision criteria (CFO, controller, VP Finance, FP&A leadership).
• Analyze market and competitive landscapes across finance automation, AI, and office-of-the-CFO platforms to identify opportunities and differentiation.
• Define and track key KPIs for product marketing initiatives (e.g., content usage, win rates, pipeline influence, launch impact).
• Build repeatable product marketing processes, frameworks, and templates for launches, messaging, and enablement as an early member of the PMM team.
• Operate as a self-starter and builder, comfortable owning strategy as well as execution in a fast-moving environment.
