About the role
- Delivery of timely, precise, and commercially oriented legal advice to minimize risks and support business objectives
- Oversight of compliance with internal policies, relevant laws, and legal requirements relevant to operating and conducting business in the US and Canada
- Ownership of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer and supplier sale and service contracts, IP and software focused contracts and contracts supporting product development, research and development and marketing teams
- Evaluation of legal risk factors impacting operational and providing practical guidance relating to strategic decisions to enable well‑informed business choices
- Steering of complex legal matters involving multiple internal and external stakeholders toward effective resolution
- Managing litigation and assisting in the supervision and direction of outside counsel, as may be necessary
- Providing training to internal teams
- Research and interpretation of laws, rulings, and regulatory requirements to provide actionable legal recommendations
Requirements
- Active member in good standing with a state bar association on the East Coast.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate or commercial law, ideally gained in an international business environment
- Track record as in‑house counsel or equivalent advisory function
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal contracts and agreements in English and Spanish.
- Strong drafting, communication and negotiation skills
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and analytical thinking
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills paired with a service‑oriented mindset
- Strong team player with the ability to handle high and time sensitive workload in a dynamic environment
- Some regional and international travel required (10-15%)
- Experience with Puerto Rican commercial laws, a plus
