About the role
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, system manuals, specifications, and other technical guides for autonomous surface vessels
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible documentation for end-users
- Ensure documentation adheres to industry standards, best practices, and relevant DoD regulations and guidelines
- Review and edit documentation for accuracy, consistency, and clarity
- Work closely with the product development team to stay updated on project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
- Continuously update and improve existing documentation based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in technical writing and documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
- 2-4 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a technology-driven environment or within the defense industry
- 2 years of experience interacting with technical stakeholders
- Proficient with version control systems and front-end development
- Familiarity with docs as code, markdown content formatting, Javascript, CSS, and Nunjucks templating a plus
- Track record of capable execution of multiple projects at once, self-direction, and meeting deadlines
- Submission of a portfolio
- Familiarity with DoD standards and regulations related to technical documentation a plus
