Contribute to development of vaccine candidates from early prototype optimization to IND-enabling activities within the Virology Group of Global Antigen Design.
Focus primarily on vaccine candidate characterization for respiratory pathogens (seasonal/pandemic influenza, RSV, hMPV, and/or COVID).
Learn and apply virological, immunological, and molecular techniques including cell culture, virus propagation, infectious titer assays, virus neutralization assays, RT-PCR, and sequencing of viral genomes.
Complete specific laboratory research tasks under supervision and demonstrate high productivity and consistency with high quality data.
Maintain and update experiment notebooks according to QA requirements.
Participate in lab and equipment maintenance, and re-stocking lab supplies.
Attend group meetings and present data; read scientific literature and interact with supervisor and team.
Requirements
Currently enrolled and pursuing bachelor's or master's degree in life sciences, heath sciences, related field at an accredited college or university with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of 2027.
Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship.
Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
R&D experience from lab courses or other experiences in molecular cloning, cell culture, aseptic technique, or lab automated systems (preferred).
Strong knowledge of MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word (preferred).
Good interpersonal skills, communication, and ability to work independently and on a team, under supervision (preferred).
Able to perform experiments from verbal or written instructions, while learning and applying new concepts and research procedure (preferred).
