About the role
- Deliver end-to-end full-stack solutions for Smart Trailer and Connected Equipment (tracking utilization, sensor-based load and temperature monitoring, asset tracking)
- Bring a customer-focused mindset to development, balancing quick iteration and customer wins
- Partner with the Engineering Manager to advocate for long-term technical health alongside product priorities
- Act as a force multiplier on the team and exemplify delivery of value at Samsara
- Mentor other engineers and actively participate in design and implementation conversations across the team
- Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team)
- Work on scalable systems serving millions of IoT devices
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in software development
- Strong programming/coding fundamentals with proficiency in at least one of: Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions
- Great team player mentality; experience collaborating with engineers across infra and firmware
- Experience mentoring engineers and participating in design and implementation conversations
- Preferred: Built and shipped a 0-1 product and experience scaling for growth and stability
- Preferred: Prior experience working with geolocation data
- Must reside in the United States (role open to US candidates except San Francisco Bay Metro Area, NYC Metro Area, and Washington, D.C. Metro Area)
- Ability to secure and maintain the legal right to work at the company and in the specified work location
