About the role
- Responsible for preparation and filing of documentation related to HTS classifications and US Customs regulations to ensure international compliance
- Track and document incoming goods and advise brands on customs compliance
- Categorize shipments by tariff coding system and review coordinating documentation for accuracy
- Collaborate with business partners and internal stakeholders to manage the import lifecycle
- Review and audit customs and duty documentation to ensure accurate invoicing and classifications
- Actively assist in department initiatives designed to cut costs and improve efficiency
- Keep an open line of communication with Logistics leadership and speak up as issues arise
- Create presentations and reporting to aid in communicating proposals or other department needs
Requirements
- Knowledge of U.S. HTS classifications around ready to wear, footwear and handbags
- Understanding of customs requirements on import shipments to the U.S.
- Experience with U.S. Fish and Wildlife and CITES regulations
- Review and auditing of customs and duty documentation to ensure accurate invoicing and classifications
- Ability to track and document shipments and advise brands on customs compliance
- Experience categorizing shipments by tariff coding system
- Work cross-functionally between multiple groups and teams both internal to Saks Global and external suppliers/brokers
- Attention to detail and ability to challenge and streamline existing processes
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle multiple workstreams at once
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Maintain an analytical, data-driven approach to problem solving
- Actively support team projects and effectively communicate with team members
- Creating clean, thoughtful presentations with targeted insight to aid in reporting or proposals
- Comfortable to work up to 4 days a week in our NYC or Dallas office
