About the role

- Present confidently to rating committees, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
- Publish timely industry commentaries and write sector reviews and thought leadership pieces.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Midwest local government structures, funding mechanisms, and political dynamics.
- Guide and support junior analysts, providing constructive feedback to enhance their analytical capabilities.
- Establish and lead the development of rating policies and methodologies, ensuring adherence to analytical guidelines and quality standards.
- Represent S&P Global Ratings at external meetings, effectively communicating our analytical perspectives.
- Lead initiatives for operational and process improvements, maintaining a focus on analytical excellence and risk management.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in the Public Finance sector.
- Proven ability to mentor analysts and elevate team-wide analytical rigor.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, for stakeholder engagement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Commitment to adhering to established analytical guidelines and quality standards.
- Experience with Midwest regional government credit analysis.
- Ability to contextualize credit decisions within broader economic and policy trends.
- Familiarity with local government funding mechanisms and political dynamics.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
